Three members of the Boston University men’s lacrosse team were selected for the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s 2020 All-New England Preseason Team.
Senior goalie Joe McSorley made First Team in the cage. Senior long stick midfielders Chase Levesque and Reece Eddy were chosen for the Second Team, although Eddy was honored as a defender and not as a long pole.
McSorley’s nomination was his second-straight NEILA First Team selection. McSorley has been as reliable as could have been expected through the Terriers’ first four games, making at least eight saves in all of those contests. In BU’s last two matchups, McSorley made 33 combined saves. His average of 13.25 saves per game ranks 15th amongst Division I goalies.
Levesque and Eddy have helped the Terriers get into a rhythm on defense. Through only four games, Eddy has already collected 21 ground balls, while Levesque has picked up 17 of his own. Eddy and Levesque have combined for 20 caused turnovers, helping the Terriers to rank first nationally in that category.
The only other Patriot League players picked for the Preseason Team were Holy Cross’ Chris Conlin, Sean Mullaney and Dan O’Connell, who were all named to the Second Team. The Terriers and Crusaders play one another in Worcester on March 14, although the Terriers face Bellarmine, Colgate, and Bucknell before then.
