Women’s Hockey: Terriers Rank Second in Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll

By: Patrick Donnelly

Head coach Brian Durocher’s Boston University Terriers were picked to finish second in Hockey East, according to the Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which was announced Thursday morning. The Terriers finished with one first place selection and earned 71 points in the voting.

Cross-town rival Northeastern was chosen to repeat as the top team in Hockey East with nine first place votes (81 points) in what would be a unanimous decision if each coach was able to vote for his or her own team. Boston College, BU’s long-time rival in the Battle of Commonwealth Avenue, rounded out the top-three with 65 points and no first place votes.

Durocher and the Terriers kick off the season on Sunday, October 6th, as they will travel to Union for a matinee matchup before returning for the home-opener at Walter Brown Arena against Merrimack on Friday, October 11th, at 7:00 pm.
